Default My DVD Burner Can't Read DVD Discs Anymore

My DVD burner can't read DVD discs anymore. The discs just spin for ages and nothing loads. When it stops spinning, still nothing loads. I've gone into Computer to see if the DVD disc title is showing and it's not, it on'y says DVD RW Drive (E). I've tried different DVD dscs encase one was damaged and after seeing that other discs act the same it's not a disc fault. How can I fix this?

Many thanks.

It does show. It reads all other discs and DVD discs with data on but when I want to watch a DVD they can't be read.

Many thanks.

It's a Samsung laptop and the DVD burner is TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C and I've only had this laptop for about three months. I don't know when it was built.

Hmmmmmmm, I don't think I've seen this before. One of the "catch all" fixes that works a high percentage of the time is, boot to Safe Mode.. go into Device Manager.. Delete the device from the list... reboot. On next boot you should get "Windows has found a new device" and it should reload the driver. But anytime you're deleting the driver like that you have to be prepared you may have to mess around to get it back. I'd try to find an updated driver first. If you can't find a newer driver, then that hack may work.

Many thanks for that info. It's seems a bit of a risk if I might get problems getting the driver back. What I'll try next is to phone Samsung and see what they say. They should know because they built the Laptop.

I can't blame you for being cautious. It is a standard fix for PCs but I'm not experienced with laptops. They may be a bit more finicky. I've never deleted a driver without getting the "windows has found new hw" on next boot, but I also can't guarantee it will work. See what the tech support advises.

That is how I do it on my laptops, and yet to have a problem in doing this.
