When I play back one XVID mpeg-4 file with MPEG layer-3 codec the picture is pixly where it moves and I see little data-blocks in people's faces for example. Don't laugh it's hard to explain but I think you know what I mean. AVI codec tells me that the file is supported. What is the problem?

Its probably a poorly authored/created XviD file with a low bitrate. What is the length and size of the .avi file?

I don't think so. It's 57 minutes and 697MB.
