Just a little note, hopefully not too OT

Many commercial DVDs can theoretically go to nowhere (although I am sure on normal operation they are just fine). I have seen many where IF gprm(x) == (whatever) then goto PGCN (whatever) and the PGC is empty.

Others include tests for button numbers that cascade thru, the last one going to a NOP at the end of the post commands of the PGC (which has no Next PGCN). A good example of this can be seen in the pictures of this thread.

Regards

Uploaded new testbed

Dirio49 -- Now stomps on all Jumps/Calls in Fp to Target
Rewrites last command to user selected target (if no Jumps present).

Added Checkbox to use Text (Selected font) instead of Bitmap Resources for "Play, Setup, etc buttons

Combined Text_color and resource color and opened up Text colors beyond 16 basic colors

Gui was getting to tight loosened it up bit and grouped things up

Hopefully No Strange window clipping In Japan

Blutach -- Quite true but trying to create a Newbie One Clicker for those situations would be extremely code base heavy --And theres already about 9000 lines of code just "fixing" and fixing exotics now

2ish DVD failure rate out of about 2000 (with orig menus)
With a Simple Fairly "Pretty" Fix/Alternative (Make Menu)
And no DVD command knowledge/Pgc structure required of user
-- I can Live with it --

And this testbed should cover Dirios gremlin
(actually his problem was more one of initial preference not total failure -- The Movie started -- The Menu was available Via Menu Button)

thanks for new testbed
That does it.
But i agree with that this dvd is easier just to use make menus.
But sometimes people like to do it the hard way

Quote:
In this case I think I would recommend to a Newbie ("Incapable of altering DVD Commands")To Try this >> Undo >> Make Menu >> when done click on Vts Title 1 and browse to orig menu >>Save Changes
BTW, this way would hit some trouble too. because of other commands
But you can play the movie off the "Title" Menu( the one that titlewritter creates )
if you made it that it takes you to the Room menu after the title and pressed play on the root Menu, halt again. Here than the Play All button on the title menu would save you.

Thanks for the new version and TestBed.

The MakeMenu function of 4.31 is very stable in Japan.
But the MakeMenu function of TestBed is bad in Japan.
As soon as Font button is clicked, TitleWriter is often terminated because of Application Error.
The idea of using Text instead of Bitmap is good...

I tried to use for new testbed.

The setting of title colour was removed, colour setting is only Text/Resource. It works something wrong.
(1)When the setting changes to black,
*setting is not refected to output and preview. Its colour is determined by the setting of previous output.
*Next and back buttons is invisible in output and preview.
(2)When the setting changes from black,
*setting is not refected to title colour of output and preview. Its colour is black.
(I've not confirmed about ver.4.31. I used default setting.)
(2)This problem is same when the setting changes to not-black,
*setting is not refected to title colour of output and preview. Title colour is determined by the setting of previous output, and button text colour is reflected correctly.

I think better "Create Movie Chapter/Setup(/Audio?) Menu" is not in "Dvd/Menu Style Options", because it is independent of titles, but others is common with all titles.

And I have a request. Button of "Apply to all" for "Chapter/Setup Menu", because it is convinient when many titles. (Sometimes I create DVD of over 50 titles, it is my daughter's DVD of many songs captured from TV program for children.)

What is the meaning of "Use Text for PlayaLL,Main, etc Buttons" ?
These buttons was created, when I didn't check it.

Regards.

Just Uploaded another Testbed -- Must have been brain dead yesterday

Seems I was creating the Vts menus in all cases then not using them Dumb Monkey

More GUI Tinkering

Hopefully fixed the Font/color problem

Quite right -- The monkey is rapidly regressing -- Getting painful to watch

When Checked The current Font is used to create the bottom line of buttons
When not -- Bitmap Resource files (Ex. Play.bmp) are used

(Of course anyone can change those bitmaps to anything You just need to retain the filename name and make sure the background/transparent color is < 15(Possible Sloppy .JPG Decompression to .BMP)

Though they might look funny when I Squish/Stretch them to Cell position

Not really the Make Menu VMG is Imported as the VMG, And the Original into VTS (Happyface may be required on the VTS to eliminate possible back jumping to VMGM FP or PGC's) -- Simple

It simply uses the Make Menu VMGM as the Switcher for a single movie
(you shouldn't be resetting the FP on start target with a Generic anyway)

Thanks for new TestBed5_27.
(By the way, what 5_27 means?)

This problem is fixed. Thanks.
Though actually no problem, in preview of 2nd page, "HighLight Color" is incorrectlly reflected to "Text/Resource Color".

Thanks for adding "Apply To All Movies” for ”Create Movie Chapter/Setup/Audio Menu”. It is very convinient.

About "Use Text for PlayAll,Main, etc Buttons"
Quote:

Thanks for the explanation. I understand.

When checked, both side of some button text is invisible. It seems to be because the size of buttons is small for text.

Regards.

Thanks for TestBed5_27.

I like TestBed5_27 but the slider of "Soften Button Highlighted and Selected colors" is strange as follows.

1) This slider seems to be not effective in Preview.
2) When CreateMenu button is clicked after this slider is moved from 0, Warning "Spumux will kick an error..." is issued and TitleWriter hangs up.

HI,
in the latest testbed, 5_27 the create menu is hidden under the frame preview.
My resolution is 1280x1024
and in addition, if I Left click on Preview, and then let go the preview redraws/resizes itself and you can see the botton. no idea why this happens.

Question.
Does Happyface remap buttons, so they jump directly to where they are supposed to go instead of them going to other pgc's first?

Dirio49 -- Simplified --Thats exactly what Happyface does
You drag/drop buttons to their matching form areas -- Chaptering is a little more complex -- Each Line is a specific Chapter Page (Ex 1-4, 5-8 etc).

I Attempt to preload the buttons/pgc's for you (Sometimes TW is all Wet in this area -- TW doesn't Have "Eyes")
It also wipes out pre commands in selected pgcs (which removes forced navigation to KaKa --This essentially turns the Menu into a "Simple" generic style
And Myriad other fixes are applied
Since On Simplify Menu --I then actually have hard data as to what is what and where the buttons lead

I'll Fix Create Button position in tomorrows testbed5_28

Tetsuro_ja
Had to take Softening out of Preview when I started applying it to VTS Menus -- I'll probably readd when things stabilize

Yes happens (Seems only on the 2x3 thumbnails Chapter Matrix)
Either don't use softening there or move slider left. all the other chapter counts/page seem to work fine at any slider position
Monkey is really scratching head on this one.

Quote:
Hangs Up
-- You should have seen TW Thread error window (DOS Shell Window) come up -- With the last line "Press any Key To Continue"
Did/Do You see this Error trap Window???

Jinjin_jp
testbed5_27 Means testbed todays date --I have to keep track in some manner

Quote:
When checked, both side of some button text is invisible. It seems to be because the size of buttons is small for text.
Text is drawn (Centered horizontally and Vertically) using current font size in cell (clips if necessary) cells are calculated by what will "fit"
Solution -- Reduce Font Size
Perhaps I'll throw in a warning in Log Window if Clipping is happening (But it would have to be while Create Menu is running
(Its the only time I actually have the Cell dimensions -- Not sure how badly it would reduce rendering speed)

(This will also happen if you Put to many chars in DVDVolumename etc)

Resources bmps are Squished/stretched to fit Cell dimensions

@FA,
i think TitleWriter does not modify both sets menus, if they have same buttons
Bellow,
the one with the green the buttons are all good, and fine
but the one with the red, has the buttons leading to no mans land ( but only if you import strictly the original menus)
i used advance and specified both 10 and 11 as the pgcs that need to be modified
BTW if you import the original menu ,the movie start it goes to pgc 10 --> lead to trouble

If you wanted to modify both -- Why didn't you drop it into Happyface second line -- Ps how do you reach that menu Hmm
And can you reach the chain that leads to that pgc.

It only fixes the Pgcs you tell it to

You are right, you cannot really reach that menu. ( well at least after HappyFace it is uncalled )

Quote:

this I did, but it did not modify the commands, because if you select pgc 10 in HappyFace, it just takes you back to PGC 11.
And it does not show the bottons
as you can see on the scene shot

P.S.
I hope no harm done .

Dirio49

Now I see it

Now that I think about it Happyface would add that to the list as a viable target menu even though it didn't contain buttons.(Because the Pgc Line entry Shows Buttons)
But when it came time to simplify it -- found nothing -- Modified nothing
And Heres the only problem -- Then it Set Pgc 10 as the Root
Thats Weird it must be specified in the ifo as containing buttons -- but the Vob Cell in the .vob file doesn't seem to contain the info.

Not Much I can do about it if the ifo lies

Pls Pm me with the name of the DVD -- I want to see what a true mess those ifos are

Very Bad Menu Design if you ask me --- Well by specifying 11 first as root in Happyface it is fixed And You have a Playable DVD I'm Guessing.

FA,
here is a twist for you, if i menushrink the menu, then TitleWriter finds the bottons just fine

BTW in pgc 10 the buttons show up later on, not on the beging of the cell(they show up at 8 sec form the beginning of the cell), unlike pgc 11 where the buttons show up right in the beginning
