The ability to open the .AVI file in TMPGEnc (or any other conversion software) is dependent upon the video and audio codecs used to create the .AVI.
If your rightclick on the file, select "Properties" and then click on the "Details" tab, you should see information regarding the codecs used to create the file. If you can determine which codecs they are, that you don't have installed on your system presently, you can go to one of the many websites, such as DivX Digest, and download them. Once you've installed them, you should be able to proceed with your endeavor. Let us know of your success ;>} |

Well,
i tryed several stuff, i installed DivX 3.11 AlphaAnd that made me open the DivX in TMPGEnc so that part worked, i encoded to Mpg format and burned (770MB) on a CDR (Yeah that worked, speaking of Overburning )When i played it in my DVD player i had no sound, when i tryed to play it on my computer (The file not the VCD) i had no sound. So as the details of the DivX said MPEGIII Layer sound.... What Codec do i need to use for it to play the GREAT QUALITY....WITH sound ? PLEASE HELP ME

1) Have you played the original .AVI file - does IT play with sound?
2) If the .AVI" plays with sound, did you have TMPGEnc set for "System Video & Audio" "MPEG 1 -Video CD" format? 3) Don't trust overburning. Split the file using TMPGEnc's "Merge & Cut" (from under the " dropdownFiles" select "MPEG Tools"). Make CERTAIN you once agian select "MPEG 1 - Video CD" when you're doing this as well. 4) Last but not least: A) Not all standalone DVD players play VCDs B) Many standalone players are very "finicky" about which brands of CD-Rs they'll recognize. I've had great success with both the Prime Peripherals and ArtMedia brands. Let us know of your success ;>} |

1.) the original Avi (DivX) plays with sound
2.) Yup i had TMPGEnc set on audio+Video 3.) I will encode again and split the file in 2 so no overburning is needed. 4.) I have several VCD's and they all play them, so no problem with my dvd player 5.) About the CDR itself, it plays it but without audio, so i would be weird that the dvd plyer wont pick audio, doesnt it ? Well ok, tnx for the help i will encode it again and see if it will work now |

If you don't already have an MP3 codec installed, load and install the Radium (actually an enhanced version of the Fraunhoefer) MP3 codec.
