Default Famous cliches, quotes, 1 liners, etc...

I see a lot of us have many quotes, cliches, or 1 liners, etc... So i figured i'd open this thread so we could post any we know, like, or just made up.
I'll start w/a few.

what do you get when you don't get what you want? experience.

"an unexamined life is not worth living." Plato

experience is the best teacher.

the only suggestion you'll pay for, is the 1 you don't take.

the road to hell is paid w/good intentions.

it's always about the money, when there's money involved.

it is what it is.

if nothing changes, then nothing changes.

the more things change, the more they remain the same.

just because it's simple doesn't mean it's easy.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

Can't see the forest for the trees

If it wasn't for bad luck, i'd have no luck at all.

One man's loss is another's opportunity.

When there's blood on the streets start buying property.

Education is the key to success. Communication is the key to understanding.

A penny for your thoughts.

What part of NO don't you understand? The N or the O?

No is a complete sentence.

If i had all the answers i'd be the richest man in the world.

It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then a rich man go to heaven.

One for all, and all for one.

There's no I in team work.

You can not be a politician and become rich w/out being a crook. Teddy Roosevelt. I think.

You can't put a price on freedom.

It's not so much what you could take out of a situation as how much you could contribute.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.

A friend is a dollar in your pocket.

You have champaigne taste w/beer pockets.

You can't straighten out a crooked branch.

Why can't we all get along? Because life will be boring.

Put up, or shut up.

Easy does it, but do it.

George Washington was 1 of the most successful Generals of the U.S., and all he did was retreat.

If it sounds to good to be true, it's to good to be true.

when you watch a movie, it is not what you see but what you can learn from it and use it in your current life ( this is how I watch a movie )

God looks after babies, fools, and drunks.

It's the oldest story in the book. He desires the one thing he can not have. Viktor from Underworld.

It's a funny thing killing a man. You take away everything he's got, and everything he's ever going to have. Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven.

There will always be wars. We sometimes have to do evil things to produce the greater good. Robert McNamara defense secretary during the Kennedy Administration.

I use to be nothing. Now i'm something. Ain't that something.

Stupid is as stupid does. Forrest Gump.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Take it like a grain of salt.

He has the patience of Job.

Silence is Golden.

We all have promises to keep, and miles to go before we sleep. Robert Frost.

It is whether you win, or lose, and not how you play the game. Ask the Patriots. lol...

P.S. they don't have to be 1 liners.

Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all evil.

Some are poor, but not broke, while others are broke, but not poor.

There is no future, but today. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

As we go through life two rules shall never bend. Never whittle towards yourself or pee against the wind.

A disciple was complained, "You tell us stories, but you never reveal their meaning to us."

Said the master, "How would you like it if someone offered you fruit, and chewed it up before giving it to you?" No one can find your meaning for you. not even the master.

Baseball teaches us, or has taught most of us, how to deal with failure. We learn at a very young age that failure is the norm in baseball, and precisely because we have failed, we hold in high regard those who fail less often-those who hit safely in one out of three chances, and become star players. I also find it fascinating that baseball, alone in sport, considers errors to be part of the game, part of its rigorous truth.

Francis T. Vincent, Jr,
Commissioner of Baseball
