How to connect SB Audigy to 5.1 receiver?

    Hi everybody!

Firs of all great site, a lot of usefull stuff.

I have searched this and few other forums, but I don't have the answer to my problem yet, I hope that somebody can help me here:

I watch DivX with AC3 codec on Bsplayer that supports AC3 sound and spdif output. I use Soundblaster Augigy with digital output. I also have receiver that has coax and optical digital input.

For now I only have left/right stereo cables connected to receiver, but I would like to use dolby digital sound.

The question is: how to connect Audigy with minijack spdif output to receiver with coaxial digital input? Which cable do I need? Or if somebody can tell me how, I can make cables my self.

    Thanx for answer guys!

      Lo

      what make/model decoder?

i had a similar problem with my Audigy and a decoder - but that
was a VideoLogic thing, and it was useless.

If you want to use the optical then there's no way to adapt it,
it has to go like-to-like, which of course the Audigy doesnt come with. In this case you'll have to lay hands on a LiveDrive- they sit in a 5.25" bay and give you just about every connector there is, downside is that they're not sold separately iirc.

If you want to use spdif-to-DIN for your surround, then go bother Creative's spares department- the right wire and adapter come with all their decoders. Definately the cheaper and easier option.
Getting spares isnt something ive found easy from them in the past, tell em it didnt come with something you just ordered.

....how the hell do i stop these damn emoticons?

        Hello,
I had the same problems, because the Audigy Player has no seperate DIN or RCA connector for Digital output, but you can buy an adaptor at the e-store at www.creative.com In german, this one is called "Digital Jack to Digital DIN and RCA Adapter" (15€). With this one it should be no prob to connect the Audigy to your DD receiver or amp, the only thing you need in addition is a cinch cable for your digital in at your receiver. With this connectin you can use the SPDIF output of your AC3 filter and can hear perfect AC3 sound with your receiver.
Another option is to connect 3wires with your Audigy outputs, like a non digital set of speakers and use your 6channel input of your receiver, if it supports 6ch in.

        Hope it will help!
