    Sony playback problem

    Hi
Does anyone know how to get backups to work on a sony standalone? (cant find the model)
Backups have worked ok on my MOSV006 (ministery of sound combination stereo/dvd player) but won't work on the sony in my bedroom.
I recently backed up a 3.9G film that had no protection, straight from my dvd-rom to my dvd-rw drive (pioneer DVR-106D) using nero 6,and it worked every time on both players. the origional worked on the sony,so I backed up some more the same way and they are ok too.
If I use dvd shrink to compress,or backup with no compression, they will not work.
Is there anything I can do coz I hate coming downstairs to get the origional when I am all snuggled upin bed.
I have been using v2.3 but have d/l 3.5b and not had a chance to test it. Would that work? The media I use is Bulkpaq generation 4 4xspeed dvd-r (never had any coasters until now)
I also hope that I chose the right forum as I am a forum virgin.
    Thanks in advance.

After the origional has been analysed,I choose full disk, compress it until it will fit on a 4.7g disk then set the taget file as VIDEO_TS.
When it has finished I use nero 6 to burn the whole file onto a dvd.
I don't know if I need to do anything different, but it works on one player and in power dvd,but not on the sony.
But as I said,if I copy a film without shrink,it will work ok on all standalones.
Glad to have the demigod of digital media to offer advice.
(my mum always told me flattery will get you everywhere)
I was reading some of the posts last night and you seem to know what you are talking about.
Sorry if it is something simple that I am doing wrong.
Oh yes, nero asks if i want to burn with multisession or without.
      neither makes a difference.

My question was, "EXACTLY how are you burning these DVD Shrink created DVD "packages"?"

Your answer was, "I use nero 6 to burn the whole file onto a dvd. "

What mode did you use in NERO?

(For DVDs, ALWAYS set NERO to "No multisession")

"then set the taget file as VIDEO_TS."

No - you then set the target FOLDER as "VIDEO_TS".

Once I have the VIDEO-TS FOLDER I use nero 6 to burn a dvd-rom (iso) with no multisession. I then use the file browser to locate the VIDEO_TS folder, copy it to the compilation and burn it to dvd.

            "I use nero 6 to burn a dvd-rom (iso)"

Use NERO in "DVD-Video" mode - and place ALL DVD-related files (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) into the RED "VIDEO_TS" folder...

(By the way, there have been reports that NERO v.6.xx is "buggy". If you have problems with it going forward, you might consider installing the older, more stable, v..5.5.10.42)

Thanks for the help setarip and for the speedy replys. I will give that a try.
Also thanks for the nero 6 advice. I am glad now that I kept the old version.
              Cheers.
