    Virtual dub huge size

    Hi,
I have 2 avi files, the first is 713 MB and the other 700 MB, so appended this files in virtualdub but the resulting size was 2 Gb, it should be around 1400 Mb, I used direct stream copy for both audio an video. It did work with a Spirit movie i had, but this Spriggan movie final size is much bigger. What is wrong? i dont know.
Maybe this happens with some movies , or maybe i am
    doing somethin wrong.
    Help me please
    thanks

Most likely when you saved your joined AVIs you forgot to go to "Video" > "Compression" and select a divx video codec to compress the AVI before you saved it resulting in a huge "uncompressed" AVI file.

Hmm... Wouldn't this produce a much (very much) bigger file then ???

I bet he simply forgot to compress the audio...

If you read my post carefully, I stated:

"you forgot to go to "Video" > "Compression" and select a divx video codec to compress the AVI before you saved it " meaning that yes, if you "DON'T" do what I outlined, then you will end up with one "Huge" uncompressed AVI. I already assumed the user's audio was mp3 (maybe I did jump the gun on that one), but I assumed that they already had two divx files to begin with.

          I meant...

Wouldn't a 1400MB "compressed" file not result in a 30-60 GB uncompressed one (he wrote 2GB)...

All depends on which video and audio compression codecs you use.

He wrote 2 files, both around 700MB...

So assumed its a usually 2CD-movie encode !!!
