    re: codec packs

Anyone know if the Nimo codec pack or the K-lite codec pack (the latter I found here http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm) has any problems with playback (picture quality, freezing, conflicts with software, etc) or potential conflicts with Windows 98se? Which one is better? (I was considering installing K-lite full, though looking at what is included it seems I don't need many of those programs). Do any of these two contain adware/spyware? If so, can that adware/spyware be removed while allowing the software to still work?

Also, is the latest basic stand alone divx codec still available free without the adware? If not, can that adware be removed? I've only been able to find it bundled with adware.

    Thanks

d/l from here http://www.divx.com/divx/?src=footer...rom_/index.php .On the left app. 1/2 way down you will see "download standard version". The d/l is divx11bundle.exe The ad version is divx11gatorbundle.exe

Thanks for the info. Does the standard version also allow you to edit/(re)-encode files in say virtual dub or does it only let you play the divx file?

You can encode with it but almost all the options are greyed out. I prefer and use xvid over divx.
