Installing divx 5.11 and divx 3.11

From what I have read, if you have one divx codec installed and then install another one, the latest one you install will automatically over-write the first one. If this is correct, is there a way to have 2 divx codecs installed on the same computer? I was wanting to have divx 3.11 installed for encoding/re-encoding movies but I also wanted the latest version installed so I can watch the movies that need that codec.

    Thanks

better stick to one only you may choose the one that you decide to encode with.

      my 5.11, over-writed my old 5.0.
divx codec 4 is not over-writen, it's still on my pc.

can anybody tell me what bitrate calculator to use for 5.11 codec, or codec is not important...

you dont need to have divx3 installed

install divx5, xvid and ffdshow and you're done

concerning bitrate calcs: decent tools like gk or DVX have an internal bitrate calc that works like a charm - no need for external apps

Sometimes using an addational or better seperate calculator may
                be more of help.

You may not need.Fine but if ppl don't use gk or dvx then they might need a seperate one.
