Problem with a sillent mp2 file

    Hi,

I ve encoded a movie with TMPGEnc , however after the conversion the mp2 audio file is sillent :/ .... i used Virutaldub to get the wav file from the avi file with the following settings:

    Audio > Direct stream copy
    Video > Full processing mode

    then save Wav

The wav file plays and has the full sound of the movie , but after being encoded , its sillent... can anyone give me some guidence.

PS: i used PAL 4:3 fullscreen settings

dmeux the avi's audio stream with virtualdubMOD

go to stream => stream list => demux

convert the audiofile with besweet to mp2

i rather thought you could mux this new mp2 with the existing video stream you had created before!?

otherwise you might chose wav as output format when converting in besweet

i demuxed the wav file in virtualdubmod , then converted the ac3 to mp2 using besweet..... is that not what you said to do previously?

you can, but where does the ac3 come from now when you were talking about wav before?

when you demux the Avi file in virtualdubmod , dont you get an ac3 file which can then be used with the mv2 file to create the VOB's

demuxing means stripping whatever is inside

this could be an ac3, in most cases it is mp3 and sometimes you'll find ogg vorbis as the audio format

file => file information will point out the details of your avi

For a Standard DVD you can use the following audio formats
Dolby digital (AC3) MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, or linear PCM

the Ac3 file created in my previous movie worked , why not this one?

                          regards ben

You should be able to import the AVI file directly into TMPGENc without having to use Virtualdub to demux the audio at all. Did you try and do that initially? If you have trouble importing the AVI into TMPGENc, do the following:

Under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority before you load your AVI.
