Next time when you post something be specific. Instead of just typing a vague topic HELP! type Firmware needed (eg) .

If no luck with a firmware, try DVD43.

ah! I was afraid you'd say that!
never used it myself but by all accounts a lot of folk have got access to wrong regioned movies by using this free application which is specifically Win XP/2000.
Large selection of reviewed shareware and freeware software.

                  Good luck

Thanks sfheath i`ll give it a try. Your signature below your posts is spot on.....particularly for 50 year olds like myself who have just mastered (sometimes lol) the VCR and are now dipping toes in the mysterious world of the PC. Thanks again for your help.

Just tried the link myself and slow as it was, it got back to what I'd found. I think they just play hard-to-get sometimes!

Glad to meet someone of my age group

sfheath I got the link ok. I downloaded dvd43 and the other program `parfin coufer` (sp) when i inserted my disc i got a window that said "this dvd is region 1 do you want to change your plater to region 1? " (or words to this effect) when i clicked `ok` I was taken to the windows list of regions....I selected the US from the list thinking this was required by DVD43 and that although changing it here it would somehow not register as a change of region on my machine. IT DID. I now only have 3 changes left it says. Does this mean i have done something wrong with the dvd43 downloading ( it went through all the icon changes - I got a green after it had did it`s yellow devil bit) which made me think everything was kosher? Any ideas what im doing wrong dont want to try again till i get some advice. Thanks

drunkinbum ,no matter which software you use you will always
remain with the rpc2 (region - selected).Therfore when a software like region killer will be executed they will only bypass the checking up of the region in simple words.

So if you are worried of what have DVD43 made for you I HIGHLY
SUGGEST YOU to use DRIVE INFO http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...threadid=34426RPC2 for DVD drives (Pc's) avalible in here.It will dispaly most
important info on your current region.

If you see that DVD43 is no good and is not bypassing well the
region check, use much better programs like http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm (DVD REGION FREE)

                              RPC2 for DVD drives (Pc's)
