    Can't playback DVD's copied to HD

    I'm having region problems trying to playback DVD's on my HD. My DVD's are all region 1 and play fine from my DVD-Rom (Sony DDU-1621). If I copy them with smartripper or DVDdecryter to the HD and then try to play it with PowerDVD, I get a "This disc is not formatted to play in your region". I have tried to flash the DVD-Rom but haven't had any success and it is still RPC2 but that shouldn't matter since everything is region 1. Any help would be great.

    I believe that if you download DVDGenie, you'll find a specific adjustment available for this.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      I have tried DVD genie with no luck. Any other suggestions? I don't understand why this is happening when everything (disk, program) is the same region.

        ...this is probably stating the bleedin obvious, but I thought region codes are usually stripped out when you rip, or at least is an option, along with macrovision, i.e turn the copy on your HD into regionless. But I'm guessing you've already done this....Have you tried DVD Starter (think this just works with WinDVD tho) must admit I've never ripped or tried to play back a region 1 disk, so all this is probably of no help whatsoever!!

          Slow progress

          Thanks to setarip for the good advice. Things have gotten a lot better but still need a little more help. Can now play about half of DVD's on my HD. The other half still say ...wrong region. Using DVDdecryter to set the region code has helped. Whats with the other half? Where is the conflict? The DVD-rom is region free, the movie is set to region free. Thanks for the help.

            You might want to see if you get different/better results using WinDVD 3.xxx...
