Nero 5:fake Burning

Hi all,

Recently, I have encountered a problem after burning DVDs: the
DVDs are still blank!
I actually use NERO version 5.5.10.34.
Could somebody has experienced the same problem? Is the problem due to the DVD drive or NERO?

For info:
My DVD drive should be able to burn in two times(2760Ko/s). It actually burns at normal speed even if the speed is adjusted to write 2760Ko/s (DVDs used up to four times).

I have got also a really bad sound when reading DVD movies.
I have tried to correct these problems but nothing better happened so far. There is also the fact that I am novice.
The model of my DVD drive is TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112.

If somebody has any info concerning my problem, you re welecome.

Aaah, the beautiful slimline burner that fits in your laptop.... Takes flipping ages writing a lead in and lead out.... I know the one as I have one myself in my laptop. I had the same problem a while back. I burned over 500 DVD's with the little monkey then he passed away to DVD writer heaven.

If it's still under warranty get it replaced, sounds like it's a gonner!

Before that, try flashing the firmware incase its a firmware issue.... although this may invalidate your warranty if it's still covered.

Edit - Just thought (I know you are most probably not but I have to ask....) You are not asking Nero to do a simulation burn are you......? If you are.....nothing will be written.

No, of course I don't run a simulation.
Yes, my laptop is still under warranty ( hopefully, the DVD drive as well).

I bought this computer in a "carrefour" (french supermarket!!!) and I was aware that the quality could suffered,especially the DVD drive, but it was a good deal.
By the way, I would understand that your DVD drive passed the way after 500s. For myself, I burned only a tenner!!

I still keep the second solution in mind in the case of ...
