    Why won't it burn? x.x

I'm relatively new to DVD burning, and I'm using an external HP drive.

I've authored several DVDs thus far, and all burned correctly, etc. etc., and the other day I captured some more video to create another DVD.

The project I created is only about 4.2 gig, but when I attempt to burn it, it says I don't have enough space on the DVD+R I'm using (and I've tried with about 5 different discs). What's more, it says the max space on the disc is now 4.4 gig, but some of the projects I've burned in the past few weeks have been 4.4+. And, even at 4.4 gig max, the 4.2 gig project should still burn successfully, right?

I'm a little confused as to why this is happening. I even took the drive and installed it on a different computer, only to get the same problem.

    Any ideas?

When it's telling you how large the project is does it say exactly that it's 4.2GB or does it say 4400MB or does it say 47,000,000 bytes? I know those numbers aren't exact but does it tell you the size in MB, KB, or just plain ole B?

If it doesn't tell you in GB then you'll have to understand that 4200MB does not equal 4.2GB. It's a little bit more. One MB does not equal 1000 KB. It equals 1024KB. Same with MB and GB. 1GB equal 1024MB.

I presume you are using "Nero" in order to burn. If this is the case, are you using "DVD-Video" mode?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm using Ulead DVD Workshop 2. While working on your DVD, it gives you an idea of the space needed on a disc.

The project in question is 4.2 gig, apparently, but when I go to burn, it tells me I don't have enough space. I find this odd, because I've successfully burned other projects that the program tells me is 4.4, 4.5.

I just burned the iso file, which, when I load in DVD Decryptor to burn, it says the iso is just over 4.7 gig, which is why it wouldn't burn. I guess that Ulead was giving an inaccurate estimate of the file size.

This is sounding more and more like a Ulead problem, and not a specific burning problem. x.x

I would suggest not saving the files as an ISO, and saving then as a regular DVD package (.IFO, .BUP, .VOB) and try burning again.
