    Xvid to VCD/SVCD?

I tried converting an avi file (xvid codec) with tmpegnc 3 and pinnacle, but these applications couldn't even read the scenes of this file.

Do I have to download a xvid codec file for these apps? Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    Leo

Yes - and also download and install the FFDShow filter...

Thanks for your help! Just solved that problem.

Another question: How long does it take usually to encode a 350mb big AVI file to VCD?

I don't think it's normal that I need more than 7 hours for converting it.

      Best regards,
      Leo

That depends largely on your system (e.g. CPU speed, RAM, etc.). 7 hours for a 350MB AVI seems a bit long. Do you have any programs running in the background during the encoding process, and are you using the VCD template form the "Project Wizard" in TMPGEnc?

Yes, I used the Project Wizard.

It must be because of my system. It's working very slow in recent times.... although it's an 1200 Mhz Processor with enough space and 512 RAM. It's just slow, even disabling of some programs to run on win-start-up didn't help.

But that's another problem, which doesn't belong in this thread/forum....

          Thanks anyway for your help!

          Best regards,
          Leo

Have you defragmented your hard drive lately?
