3ivx conversion

I've been reading through this forum and learned that I needed to download TMPGEnc to convert 3ivx files to mpeg format for burning to dvd for standalone players. I've done that. But when I tried opening my movie file, it says the file type was not supported. Its a 3ivx.mov file that's played with Quick Time. Why does it not work with TMPGEnc?

(Going a little bit further) if you want to play a 3ivX movie on a DivX DVD Player, you can just try to wrap the 3ivX video in an AVI wrapper... it just may work.
