    How can I fix this?

Hi. I've had my pc dvd player for about 6 months now, and it seems to have stopped working. It will play audio cds, and basically any other type of cd than dvds. It came with my eMachine 600id that I got for my b-day a while ago, and it's a samsung sd-608(or at least that's what xp tells me). Also, when I stick in a dvd, it will act as if it is reading it, but it never stops trying to read it. The light just keeps flashing and flashing.

Any ideas? If it helps, I'm using a eMachine etower 600id with a Celeron 600mHz processor, and a 8x Samsung DVD player.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried running a DVD/CD cleaner CD for two minutes? Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US.

If that doesn't do the trick, and your drive uses two separtae laser (one for CDs and one for DVDs), it may be that the laser has gone out of alignment - which may cost as much to repair as the price of a new drive.
