Playing MKV with Media Player Classic 6.4.8.2a

Hi

I'm not so sure it's the right forum, but they are many posts about mkv......

I'm starting with mkv, and I've got a demo mkv movie. Looking at it and demuxing it with MKVtoolnix, it contains:
Track1.rmvb
Track2.ogg (english)
Track3.ogg (french)
Track4.srt (technical comments on mkv)
Track5.srt (english)
Track6.srt (french)

While playing the mkv with Media Player Classic, I can choose the language, select a chapter, but I can't choose the subtitles, it's always Track4.

Menu->Play->Subtitles is gray and locked.
Menu->Files->Load subtitles I get a warning which I don't understand: To load subtitles you have change the video renderer type and reopen the file. (I don't even know what's this "Load subtitles" is for...)

Where is my mistake ?

The menu to change subtitles is a little bit hidden in MPC, you will find it in 'filters' 'DirectVobSub' ......

Both TCMP and Zoomplayer will offer more comfort here, and list the subtitles tracks in the main menu after you right click in the movie screen. Also dont forget to deactivate the internal matroska splitter in MPC, as this one hasnt been updated for a long time already and will fail on newer files. You dont need it also, as MPC will work fine with the newest splitter provided in our matroska packs ....

Many thanks for the answer. I installed ZoomPlayer, which seems to be more than just a player. I've also installed your matroska pack some weeks ago when I discovered the mkv container..

I noticed you're a member of the matroska project. I'll open another thread with some basic questions, hopefully you can answer them.

I have a question related with this. I hope you can help.

I am using K-Lite Codec Pack and MPC coming with it.
It has subtitle problem in MKV files.

I can open GOM player and see the subtitles, but can't watch with MPC, and I like MPC more than GOM.

I see Haali filter comes as deactivated. I reactivated it, deactivated it, but nothing change.

What can be the problem?

Have you tried VLC Media Player from VideoLan, it's free & plays everything I have thrown at it. There's also another highly recommended player, I believe it's called KMPlayer.
