    "Unspecified Target Error"

Hi, Im new here, but I'll get to the point. I have been using Nero for quite awhile, and I never really had any problems. However, just a day or two ago, when trying to burn an avi file onto a DVDRW, Nero had said to me that the end of Disc-at-once couldnt not be completed, or something. Now, I had no clue how to fix this, and I went on google, and typed in the error, and it brought me to this site where peeople had similar proboems. Now it was Cynthia who had told people to updated Nero and their burners firmware. Well I hadn't updated the firmware, so I did that (about an hour ago), restarted, etc, and now I attempted to burn something. I tried burning an image I had, in iso format, with Nero, and before, it had given me the End of Disc-at-once error, but this time, it burned for much longer (Disc-at-once error usually occured around 6-25%), but this error occured at about 70% and the error was "Unspecified Target Error". Once again, I have no clue what this means, and so I decided to come here and ask the question. And I attached my Nero log.

Target Errors are usually problem wiht the disc. Sometimes, a small thing such as a fingerprint can create that error. The writer cannot read the disc at that place on the disc.

    Have you updated Nero?

Have alook at these link. It is for SCSI target error which is very similar.

    http://www.nero.com/us/FAQs_Error_Messages.html#13

Have you got another DVDRW to try. What make is it (it isn't Memorex is it).

There doesn't seem to be a log.

You may want to try DVD Decrypter for burning.

hmm... I have Sony DVD+RW's, and I have updated Nero, but the disc I used that gave me the Target Error, I just erased and was able to burn that avi I couldnt get to work before. So Im making progress...but could it possibly be somethign wrong with the ISO?

              Could be DMA related.

There is also a later firmware for your drive (A304), but DMA is probably the problem.

Ok, thanks for the detailed responses guys. I enabled DMA, but Im still getting that unspecified target error when burning the ISO. I have tried about 6 different DVD+RW's , so I really think its the iso. Ive also tried it with Alcohol 120%

Yes I did. However, blutach pointed out that I had grabbed the wrong one (I got 303 instead of 304). So I just got done updateing the firmware, and I will try burning the ISO again.

Could try to burn the ISO file with DVD Decrypter - just to rule out Nero as a fault.

I downloaded DVD Decrypter, but Im still not done burning with Nero. Its only 53% done. It burns real slow. Also, my sound is alll scratchy when I burn. I think I installed it incorrectly.
