UDF file format? Cant read copy?

    hi all,

Im using dvd cloner II. When I copy a dvd I try to play it and nothing is found on the disc. When I play it in another pc I can see that its a UDF file system on the disc and the movie plays.

Hoping there is an easy solution to this problem. Any suggestions. My dvd burner is a Pioneer DVD RW DVR-K12D on a sony vaio.

    Thanks.

    Matt

"I try to play it and nothing is found on the disc."

Exactly what are you trying to play it on?

There are various versions of the UDF system. Version 1.02 is the standard, although many of the more modern players can accept more modern versions.

Make sure your burner is set to UDF 1.02

Would you be good enough to first answer the question i asked you?:

"I try to play it and nothing is found on the disc."

Exactly what are you trying to play it on?

can write fine, however, wont recognise in player that I just copied the dvd in.

sorry about not answering the first ?

Im trying to play it on my computer that I just copied the dvd movie on.

Using Any dvd and Clone dvd. Copies perfect. Playable in the regular shelf dvd player. Playable in 3 other computers that I have tried it on.

The pioneer recorder that I have seems very loud and thought that theres something wrong with it. Then I thought that maybe brand of media. Tried, sony and tdk. Failed.

I have searched the net for firmware updates. got one from sony, but yet to fix it.

Not sure what to try next, I dont want to keep trying every media brand on the market.

Thanks for the interest, hope you can help.

              Matt

Then it's quite clear that there's nothing wrong with the burned disc and the procedure you've used to burn it. As you've now made clear, the only problem is getting your Pioneer burner to playback.

You might want to try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your burner. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US...

did you ever find a fix for this problem. I have a Pioneer DVRA06 and it does not playback DVD-r finalized on two different standalones. Keep getting message that 'drive not ready' or 'blank disc'.

                      no fix

hi, sorry, but I didnt find a fix.

its just really strange, but to be honest I have given up and now just use a external dvd. I figure its cause I did a firmware upgrade in there somewhere and it has effected what is playable and what is not as the dvd drive in the vaio is getting older compared to what is available today.

have you looked at your hardware configuration? We're using SCSI, which the dvd drive is setup as the slave to a drive, file system FAT32 which will not read >4gb.
