Best brand disc for burning movies

Can someone help me out. I'd like some recommendations on the best brand dvd's for burning films onto. First I used some Ricoh disc that were awful. Then I used some TDK which seemed better. The other day I stopped a film half way through and when I put it on the next day I went to fast forward it to that point. When I played, the sound continued but the picture froze. I think this is a medi prob so anyone who knows any better disks, please let me know.
