    No Play

Recently I had to purchase some new DVD's. I purchased TDK DVD+R 8x, I can shrink it, decrypt it and even burn it. For some reason I can not play them back on any of my DVD players as I was able to before with my old disks. After finding this, I went out and bought some GQ DVD+R 4x, and I have the same problem. The disks that I was using before were Maxwell DVD+R with no speed marked on the disk and I even used an off the wall brand with no markings at all on the outside of the disk. All these disks burned and played fine. I even went as far as buying an external DVD+- burner made by Pacific Digital and this did not work. I even updated my firmware for my Toshiba burner in my CPU this did not work. The only thing I can think of is maybe the burn is happening too fast and my players are not picking up the information. Can any one tell me how to slow the write speed or is this done automatically? Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am new to this game. Thanks

Welcone to the fourm arlbrl! To find out what media is compatible with your player go to http://www.videohelp.com/. Max burn speed for good media is 4X. More info would be helpful. What you use to rip, transcode/encode, burn with? PC specs, OS and setup would help also.

most software burning apps have a feature to adjust the burning speed. I'm surprised the TDK's aren't working. do as "Lownox" stated and go the site he stated and look in the dvd player/dvd writer section for media compatibility.

I use DVD Dycrypter and burn with either DVD Dycrypter or Nero. My system is home made, I have a 3.2 pentium, 1g memory, and a new motherboard. Everything was fine until I switched DVD's no problems with my system at all. I recently just built the system and I run Windows XP Professional.

If you backup to a folder on the hard dis, you can then use Nero or DVD Decrypter on their own and set whatever speed you want. I still burn at 2x and occasionally do 4x.

I would try DVD Decrypter again to burn with. I have had better DVD player compatibility with it over Nero.

Can you please explain how to slow the speed on Nero when DVD Shrink automatically starts the burn right after encoding it?

There is no guarantee that it will work. Some people claim it burns at maximum all the time. The only sure way is to use Nero or DVD Decrypter on their own.

All DVD's and CD's are CLV (constant linear velocity).

                    Good example here.

I just finished burning Guess Who first by dycrypting it, then by burning it with nero 6 at 2.4x and still nothing. My sony DVD player will not recognize that there is a DVD in it to play. Any suggestions??????

                        Hi!

You really should check out the link provided by Lownox, so you can determine which media your SONY player will recognize

To find out what media is compatible with your player go to http://www.videohelp.com/.
