    Nero illegal disc

I am getting an illegal disc error on nero. I have been using Memorex dvd+r for all of my back ups for sometime now and all of a sudden they don't work. I have also checked the firmware and it is up to date

Could you post a log file from Nero ?

To do so, go here: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero
Look for a file named "NeroHistory.log"
Open that file up and copy the last log in it.
    Then paste it here.

Your version of Nero is quite old. You can get your free upgrade here.

          Later.

I also get the illegal disc error.

Can you experts please temm me what is wrong with my DVD burn? I just bought a Memorex DVD+/-DLRWL16 D2-15. I installed the NERO 6 Suite that came with it. Each time I try and burn a DVD I get the "illegal disc" error

There were three errors in the Nero's Logfile with the first and third being the same error. Here's that error.

This interprets to you having an invalid parameter in your CDB Data code. I'm not a SCSI error specialist but got this interpretation through online error charts found on the net. I wish I can really learn how to interpret the CDB Data though.

                  The second error ...

                      can I get an answer?

sorry about the impatience, anyhow, I was wondering if it's just a bad batch of discs?

CdRomPeripheral : HP DVD Writer 200j atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
Your DMA mode is still off - needs to be in DMA mode.

Did you know you are trying to change the booktype?
                        Are you using RW discs?

Have you flashed your burner since you got it?

Ok same problem here, actually I have burned over 400-500 dvd's with mine. Never had to change DMA been using memorex the whole time. So here is what I have tried.

Keep in mine my DVD burner is external through USB or Firewire. Both worked before never had a problem

Took my new disks and tried them on Nero at work on a different burner. Burned just fine!!

Ok so I took the burner to work on a computer that is working, with software that is working. Same error!!

Its not firmware or anything like that because it all worked fine 3 weeks ago. Is it possible my DVD burner is just toast?? That is my next thought.

The DMA thing does interest me because mine is turned off it could have been on before. However how do you find the DMA for an USB connected device?

                              Here is my DMA error:
                              === Scsi-Device-Map ===
DiskPeripheral : ST360015A nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : ST360015A nvatabus Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : PLEXTOR DVDR PX-504A nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
                              CdRomPeripheral : AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a a347scsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off

However the PLEXTOR drive burns just fine.

I don't have any firmware updates either. Going to keep testing but this seems more and more like my dvd burner no longer works.
