    Problem with blank dvd-rw disks

    Hi,

I'm new to all this burning stuff. I brought a external cd/dvd rewriter. I have no problem burning cds but have just bought some dvd-rw disks & they just constantly spin in the drive & then stop. On the screen it just says,' No disk in drive' or 'Please insert blank disk'

    Any ideas on the problem?

    Thanks

      Thanks for the link.

As I'm a complete simpleton, it doesn't tell me why the blank disk just spins in the drive & I still don't know what I have to do to burn dvds. Major technophobe here. ( hangs head in shame )

        what's the drive in question?
        what's the media? + - rw?
        what's the hookup info(computer, interface(firewire/usb1 or 2)

        it is brain surgery!

friendly advice, if you can, return it and get an internal one. save yourself a lot of stress.
