    DVD+RW Question

Hello - I just did a back-up using a DVD+RW and it worked all right except I had to wait for the disc to be erased even though it was blank. Is there a way to get around this? It's a blank disc and shouldn't be a problem. Thanks.

Is it a new disc that hasn't been used before?

If so, the computer needs to format it the first time it uses it. Then, in the future it is just quick erased when it is overwritten.

Yes, it's a brand new disc. That's why I wondered why it needed to be formatted. But, now I know. Thanks nwg.

        Your're welcome.

Also, because they are formatted. They lose some disc space. The actual data allowed to be stored is 4.37GB and not 4.7GB like they claim.
