Using Nero to transfer to Sony PSP

Hi long time reader first time caller.
I've been trying to figure this problem out for weeks now so it's really buggin me. Here is my situation involving Nero Recode:

I had nero 6 before on my computer and downloaded Nero 6 reloaded. Then, after I would hook up my Sony PSP to the computer (running windows XP sp2) and while using Nero Recode I would come to a drop down box with the selection: "convert to Sony PSP format", or something like that from a drop down box. All kinds of video files would be converted in a pretty reasonable amount of time, and all was good.

Flash forward: I reformatted my computer and this time used the Nero 6 software that came from my DVD burner, however now when I download the "reloaded packages 1 and 2" Recode had no option to convert to my Sony PSP format.

I found on some random forum post that someone thought you might need a boxed retail version of Nero for what I want. What can I do? I would buy the retail version if I was absolutely positive it would contain the option to convert to the stupid PSP format(I've tried every conversion software and Nero was the only one that did them all).

I have tried a Nero 7 install and that did not have the proper drop down box in recode, nor has switching the nero 6 versions by changing keys, like to "ultra".

Nero had no response to my emails, and no where can I find an official statement of which Nero product people need to convert to the PSP's format.

I've spent way more time trying to get content on my lil PSP then watching a d*mn thing, I'd say about 10:1. Thanks sony for creating yet another MP4 format, wahooooooo!

    Nero and PSP

Hey there I have just finished wrestling with this very issue since there is precious little information on the Nero website about it
I've a friend who has a copy of the Nero premium retail and the option to transcode to PSP is not included and I've read on previous forums that it was. I downloaded the free Demo version and lo and behold no option to tranfer to PSP. I read on another forum that you needed to purchase a serial number to upgrade the demo version to Premium so I took the plunge and hallelujah the option is now available
The only thing I can think of is that maybe it wasn't included in Version 7.0. The Demo version I upgraded was 7.0.1.2
I think if you purchase the retail version 7.0 you have to register the product on the website in order to access the upgrade, either that or my mate has a dodgy bootleg copy
Anyway its by far the easiest product to use, the only gripe is that I cant see any way of enhancing the sound volume which is very quiet on transferrred files. Does anyone know about this? the options in nero digital are very limited I thought that that there might be some type of plug-in or something

Still don't really know what product is worthy of purchase

I've emailed nero twice with questions to get no reply. Conjobs I would like to know what your nero is called : obviously not premium, ultra seems not to work.

I think the kick in the pants is that I spent $20 more with sony for their media manager software and it won't convert hardly anything to the psp. Freaking BS.

As I said the version I downloaded was 7.0.1.2 from the Nero Website, this is a Demo verson of the the latest Nero software its functionality is limited but its free. You then purchase the serial number for $59.99 USD and the Software gets upgraded to premium status at which point the option to save to PSP becomes available

However if you are purchasing Nero mainly because you want to download to PSP -DONT

The options are very limited and the sound is so quiet that even at Max volume, watching stuff on the train is nearly impossible, I hope that Nero actually get round to offering decent customisation but at this stage its not worth the money

Since Nero I have tried a few other programs

PSP video9 is a freeware program that gives you a wealth of options. its not really for a complete novice (which I am though I'm getting better) and requires a lot of parameter setting by the user) I'd download it if I was you and just have because its free and once you now what your doing the results are far superior to anything you can produce on Nero

If you want complete no-brainer software try PSP Movie Creator from PQDVD.com you just stick your DVD in the tray press record and in about 50 minutes you have an 2 hour movie in Mpeg4 PSP compatible format (this may vary, my system is a 3.0GHZ pentium). It also includes a software manager system to transfer it to the PSP. Its has six different screen settings so you can crop the movie to fit the PSP screen whether its 4.3, 16.9 or 2.35
and the most suprising thing is that it seems to ignore copy protection
The only thing I can surmise is that the system actually records the screen in Mpeg 4 rather than transcoding the data, a bit like FRAPS.

The quality is better than anything I have produced on Nero but not as good as the stuff you can get from PSP Video9 and you can boost the sound which is vital to downloading movies onto the PSP

You may think I'm knocking Nero but I'm not, I love Nero for everyting else just don't buy it for the PSP option

Thank you for clearing it up

I too had tried pspvideo9 and it just didn't seem to work for all of my files, I will now give up on Nero though so thank you very much, on goes my quest. I will look inot the program you mentioned as I had not heard of that one before. Thanks again for posting about your experience now I can rest in piece with the nero I had free with my burner. Have a great day.
