    ISO!!! What to do?

First off, let me say that I have been successfully backing up movies for close to a year and a half. My normal routine is using DVDD to decrypt the movie, DVD Shrink to shrink the movie, and then using RecordNow to burn the movie. Of a 100+ backups that I have made, I have maybe had 5-10 coasters, if that. As of lately, every 25 pack that I go through, I will get about 10 coasters. So I was browsing this website and noticed ImgBurn and tried using it but it says that I have to create and ISO image or something of that nature. I have no idea what that means. All the backups that I have made have all been in file mode. Could someone please point me in the right direction as to what I should or need to do. Is there a step-by-step process that someone could provide so I know what the heck I'm doing.

    F.Y.I. - The media I'm using is Memorex 16X DVD+R

If you need any more information, please don't hesitate to ask. And as always, your help and comments are appreciated.

You have to create an ISO file first from your Video_TS folder and then burn using Imgburn.

An ISO is created by copying an entire disc/folder, from sector 0 to the end, into a single file.

You can use Imgtool classic to create the ISO file and then burn using Imgburn.(Imgtool has an option to configure that)

Download and Install Imgtool classic and you will not need any steps to work with it its very simple, it asks you for the source folder (video_ts) and then a destination where you want to save your ISO. Then either you can Burn separately using Imgburn or configure Imgtool itself to call upon Imgburn and burn that ISO to your DVD.

      Hi haydenn18,

The majority of coasters come from bad media. It doesn't matter what program to decrypt your DVD, what burning software or how you burn your DVD, the result will be very inconsistent if your media is no good. Please try the better brands such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden

About using ISO image. You can decrypt your DVD in ISO mode if you don't really need any change of your DVD structure (movie only, extras...). You can follow techreactor's suggestion or you can use DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn to burn DVD. Please read the instruction "How to get ImgBurn to burn with DVD Shrink" from the link below:

        hayden,
Your firmware for your burner is probably out of date, especially if the problem
started with the memorex 16x media, burners have to know how to burn
different media, that's stored in the firmware(programable memory).
That firmware doesn't see newer media?

use the nero info tool to identify your burner and firmware

Ok, I still have no idea what I'm doing. When I open up DVDD, I do ISO read correct? That's where I get lost because after that I open Shrink and then open disc image and shrink, but it does the same thing that happens when I usually shrink which is create a video_ts folder and audio_ts folder. Am I doing something wrong because then I can't burn with ImgBurn. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
