    DVD to Hard Drive transfer!

I am in process assembling from my hard drive, video clips and still pictures for burning a DVD disc, using Studio8 or Nero. Have no problems with data transferred to the hard drive from my Pentax Optio S4i digital camera via USB cable. However video clips from my old Sony CCD-TR5 present a problem. I can play the video clips back on TV using a TV cable or the cable with the yellow/white/red plugs. I can also transfer the video clips to a DVD disc using my Samsung DVD-VR320 recorder and play them on my computer via a NEC ND-3550 DVD burner and Nero Show Time. But I am unable to transfer the video clips to my hard drive.
Whatdo I need or have to do to accomplish this?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
P.S.: Operating System is Windows ME
    AMD Athelon 950 Mhz chip
    384 MB RAM

It's not practically good idea to transfer video from camcorder to PC using USB. If your camcorder comes with firewire 1394, you can tranfer to PC using capturing software like WinDV. If your camcorder doesn't have firewire connection, your need to have a capture card or capture device to transfer to PC

      DVD to Hard Drive transfer!

Thank you for your quick reply. My old Sony camcorder has only TV cable and three wire (yellow/white/red) connection capability. Windows Explorer does not permit me to transfer from my DVD burner to Hard Drive. Im not clear what you mean with capture card or capture device. (Video card for computer?) Could you give me examples. Thanks again and Regards

As you can check for more details and prices following Chewy's link above. The capture cards can be combination of graphics and video capture such as ATI All In Wonder. They can also be the PCI add-on capture cards such as Pinnacle, TurtleBeach, KWORLD...The capture devices which can be connected to your PC via USB or USB 2.0 interface such as Plextor ConvertX USB 2.0, TurtleBeach Video Advantage USB,...All-in-all, you can connect your camcorder to these systems using S-Video or Composite audio and video input. Also, you can capture from VCR to PC (some capture cards and devices allow commercial VHS tapes, some don't). Please read information carefully before deciding what you want to go for. Below is the addtional link for capture devices:

Thank you very much for helping me! After careful study I ordered a Pinnacle Studio Movie Box 9 with USB2 from TigerDirect. It works with my ME Operating System, upgrades my Pinnacle Studio 8 and does exactly what I wanted. I appreciate your help very much. All the best Windspirit.
