    avi to mpeg using Tmpgenc

    Hi everyone..

Someone told me I can convert avi to mpeg (for vcd) using Tmpgenc . However everytime I open the file .. it said not supported or ... can someone teach me how to do it ?

Or is there any other free programs that allows me to convert avi to mpeg files ? Thank u so much!

tmpgenc is free for vcd. this is such a common problem but easily overcome. have you tried raising the directshow reader? if so, post the file info from virtualdub.

You are inputting the wrong file formats into TMPGEnc basic mpeg1 VCD.

You need to input into TMPGEnc basic the d2v video file and the wave audio file, and the output from TMPGEnc basic will be the m2v video file at a max of 4.7gb and the audio file mp2. Then burn the combined one file m2v and mp2 on to the CD-R disk.

Create the d2v video file and wave audio file from the software program DGMPGD version 1.4.6 (DGIndex) freeware and comes with user instructions.
This is the new version of DVD2AVI

DGMPGD requires VOBS as input and you can get them from the rip from DVD Decrypter

Consider going to TMPGEnc Plus (not freeware) that way you at the mpeg2 level from start to finish and much better quality. And also from VCD to SVCD

          Droozy,

Are you saying you can not load the video and audio file in TMPGEnc basic?
And start the running of TMPGEnc basic?
If that is the case then insert the d2v video file and the wave audio file in TMPGEnc basic and it will load and run. Make sure you are using the TMPGEnc template for VCD.

plus or not makes no difference. have you raised the directshow file reader yet?

Right click on Directshow File Reader.Give it a higher priority.Go on doing this until it is the highest of all(usually +2).

Go to the TMPGEnc's Option menu and select Environmental settings. From there, select the
                    VFAPI Plug-in tab.

There you see a list of various reader plugins installed for the TMPGEnc. The one that's called DirectShow Multimedia File Reader is the one that we're looking at. As a default, its priority is -1. Select the item and right click on it. Choose Higher priority and repeat this until the "Priority" for this item is higher than any other plugin's priority in the list (usually 2).

You can use it to encode to MPEG1 (VCD) but your MPEG2 (DVD) encoding will stop after the trial period. Although its got nothing to do with your raising of priority.

I have put the priority to +2 .. but still the same message came out. UNable to load or cannot be supported ..

I ever use winavi video to convert no problem with that file but the problem is that trial software came with a logo after conversion.

Can someone help to solve the problem ? thanks
