    Default DVD software player in Win2K

    That will be an easy one for most of u, but i can't seem to find the right answer.
    I'd like to make Nero Showtime my default DVD player but i can't seem to be able to do so. I always get the Windows DVD player starting.
    I work in Windows 2000 Pro.
    Thanks!

    try this:

    => rightclick on a media type you would like to connect with your favourite player; for example an *.AVI file

    => "open with"

    => select programm

    => tick the checkbox *always open with...*

      ...

      This, I knew. The problem is on inserting a DVD.

        does windows 2000 list dvd video under file types in folder options, xp has an advanced button for default player
        otherwise I would just disable autoinsert notification cause I use a computer to work on dvd's not watch them

          The video type files are registered to Nero Show Time. Still, it is tthe damned Win2K DVD player that shows up whemn a DVD is inserted. And i looked into the Device manager for thre "autoinsert notification" for my Benq drive. No such checkbox!

            go to my computer and right click on the drive/properties for play(autoinsert)

            or folder options
            advanced?

              Obviously, XP is handling the situation much better!
              The .IFO, .VOB and .BUP files are all registered to Nero ShowTime.
              And the hardware involved (Benq DW120) have no "auto insert not." in its properties.
              Maybe a 3rd party software can change the registered software for DVD discs?

                      Also, doesn't Nero have an option to make it the default? It tried to on my XP system and I had to use that thing Chewy suggested (similar at least) to change it back to PowerDVD.
