Sending PVR data to the PC for editing

I'm recording a training session from a PC running a DOS application. S-video out of my PC and into my PVR. I Then burn that video to DVD and bring it back into the PC for editing.

From what I've read here, everytime I move the mpg file around, I'm loosing quality. My PVR has a HDMI output. Is there a way to take this uncompressed format back into the PC. Near as I can tell, the only reason for a HDMI output its to send it to a TV.

How can I capture the HDMI as Data?

    Or

What should I be doing to preserve the quality?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Mike

There are software about that does lossless editing and save as a new mpeg. Try software such as TMPGEnc DVD Author, VideoRedo, Womble Mpeg-VCR and Womble Mpeg Video Wizard. TMPGEnc DVD Author will also read the DVD directly.

They are all available in 30 day trials. A quick google search will find them.
