    Converting WMV1 files.

I have many WMV1 files I've been joining and want to burn to disc. I've converted of few of them to mpeg and burned them to DVD, but the resultant quality is sub par even if I shrink the viewed video down to the same sise as the WMV file. (4"X3") I've tried several converters with the same results. Should I be transcoding them to another format like AVI then burn them to VCD rather than DVD? Also does anyone know where to obtain Windows Media Encoder 7.1 for use with asfTools? Its required to encode wmv1. All I can find is vr.9 and it is not compatable with asftools? Thanks in advance.......Ken

Do you have Nero? It converts to DVD pretty well.

I've used Nero,Allock, and a few others. I think it might be a problem of my WMV1 files, resolution (320x240) to DVD resolution (720x480). All programs produce the same result.............Ken

ken for conversions as you describe will result in quality loss, especially dealing with WMV. what are the source files like? (quality wise)

I know this prog isn't recommended for much, but winavi might actually do the job. I use it for converting my avi's to DVD, and it does a very nice job. It's also really easy to use, and has wmv support.
