About audio sync commented in "Basic AVI to DVD ..TMPEG"

Hi folks, after a day doing researches to convert my .MKV to .vob files with the AC3 audio, I get an AVI file with the 3 AC3 audio VBR inside then. But the problem is that these audio files aren´t syncronised with the video now. I tryied to extract the audio with VirtualDub as said in the BAsic AVI to DVD conversion using TMPEGEnc but I always wave the following error: No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format (source format tag: 00ff). The problem is that I had installed the AC3 ACM Decompressor and the AC3 Filter. I even thinked if rebooting the driver would be loaded by windows at the start but I had the same results. Well people, I need a hand here. Thanks a lot.

post a screenshot of the file info with virtualdub mod please, also the stream list screenshot. are they all tag:00ff? no "2000"? i must admit i have not encountered this tag before.

i believe it is an AAC audio stream that has the "00ff" tag. i have never worked with an avi that has this, but i have done a little searching and think AVIMuxGUI would be a good choice to de-multiplex the audio (if it is an AAC stream that you want out of the file). now i need to see if it has it's own decompressor, or if you need to get one.

Hi L.T. Columbo, it is AAC audio, but this AVI file I have build it from a MKV file. My target is to get VOB files to record in a DVD but without quality loss and with the multichannel sound 5.1 that it contains. About the program that you talked, I have used him to insert the audio in the AVI without audio. The problem is it got disyncronised. I have also studied more the file and I discovered that the audio tracks are larger that the video track. This is a big problem because it desyncronyses during the play. The video lenght is 1:26 and the audio is 1:30. What I think that I must do is to cut the audio file using an audio editor but I didn´t find any one which supports AAC 5.1 audio files. If you know any better method to convert an MKV to DVD with multichannel audio, please tell me. Here is the screenshot that you asked me before.

this creates a problem. 4 minutes gap is huge. it could be fixed using the method i talk about, but will take some playing. first you need to determine if it's early or late, then you'd have to start by entering "240,000" ms which would equate to 4 minutes and go from there. even if you can do this, you won't be able to keep the 5.1 audio.

Hi L.T.Columbo, the audio is late, the image starts first. I had syncronysed it to a scene in the time of muxing with AVIMuxGUI putting negative values in the ms delay of audio but this continues getting desyncronised during the play. I could get ones of the track audios to a WAV file thought Maven3D Pro but it changes the speed of play and the audio got distorsioned, like an old audio cassete playing faster than normal. Thought that method you wrote with VirtualDub, I couldn´t did anything because of that error that I posted on the screenshot.

i wouldn't bother muxing to avi first, encode directly from the mkv

1. download & install haali media splitter

2. download & install avisynth

3. run notepad, type

directshowsource("c:\path\to\video.mkv",audio=false)

make sure you adjust file & directory to match what you have on your hard disk

4. go file-->save as, and save as script.avs

5. open the AVS file you just created in an mpeg2 encoding application, such as tmpgenc or AVI2DVD

best to handle audio separately, extract using mkvextractGUI, use behappy or besweet to encode to 5.1 ac3

Hi people, I did the script that you told but I didn´t find where to open it in TMPGEnc or in AVI2DVD. My TMPGEnc is Plus version 2.512.52.161 and the AVI2DVD that I have is from TrustFm. Either way, I have before all that extracted the video and the audio. The video is in .264 or .avc but when I extract it, the program ask me for the format because he can´t recognise it. About the audio, they´re all in .aac format. And about Haali media splitter and Avisynth, I have installed Matroska Pack, and I think is everything inside there.

pretend it's an avi file, open it as you normally would.

I have before all that extracted the video and the audio. The video is in .264 or .avc but when I extract it, the program ask me for the format because he can´t recognise it

don't extract the video, just the audio which you can encode separately afterwards

Hi friends, I have it all extracted, I don´t need to extract nothing more. The problem is what I do to mux the video and the audio with syncronization. I used AVIMux before but the audio isn´t syncro. As I said before, there is a huge diference between the lenght of the video file and the audio file extracted. Either way, I don´t know why my TMPGEnc cannot open any AVI. Maybe, I need a newer version (My TMPGEnc is Plus version 2.512.52.161). But the real problem is the syncro audio file. My target is the .VOB files to record into a DVD but I wanted to keep the multichannel audio.

have you raised the directshow? have the right codec? read the FAQ?
