    Help Disk Skipping

Ok i have a problem. Last week i got basic instict 2 and it worked fine in dvd shrink. Watched it and everythig a ok. This week i tried to do it for 16 blocks. Shrink took care of it fine but when i tryied to watched it started to skip on the last 10 mins of the movie. Even the alternate ending was messed up in the same place. I have no problem with the dvds for months now on skipping. Also another disc is doing the same thing now. Do you think that the dvd player should be cleaned. I can wacht the dvd in my computer fine.

Have a read of the Golden Rules of Burning.

Set your target size to 4300 in DVD Shrink, don't burn over half the rated speed of the media and use quality media.

I try to clean my DVD player on a regular basis. When it get's dirty it will skip on the dvds. I would reccomend cleaning the dvd player and see if it helps.

Cleaning is always a good thing to try first. If it does not fix the problem, I would suspect poor media, or the burn speed. If your drive supports it, you can also use Nero CD/DVD Speed to do a disc quality scan and actually see if there are problems with the burn at the end of the disc.

well i went out and got a disc cleaner and a dvd player cleaner. When i cleaned my dvd player and stuck my dvd in it started to work and i thought that my problems were solved. Then about 30 seconds past were it usually skips bam there it goes. Starts to skip and then freezes up. Nothing. Well what do you think now.

i have already looked at this. The only thing that i haven't done is the firmware. Where do you find out which type of burner you have.

i am home for the weekend so i don't have my computer here. I use nero to burn. I will send you a message on monday so that you can look at this again. do you think that it is just the burner or something in the computer. I remember a while back i tried dvd fab decrypter and it said to enable the dma etings before it starts up. when i did the dvd worked but then shrink wouldn't work. so i unistalled it and reinstalled it as in the golden rules.

well aunt tilly doesn't have one. lol. i have an old one but that one has never played burnt dvd at all. It plays boughten ones fine thought. i looked back at a dvd that i burnt about 2 weeks ago (annapolis) and it worked fine. Do you think that it might just be something i am doing wrong. also is nero one of the better burning programs to have. I know someone that uses roxio.

IMO nero is a good burning program, millions and millions world wide use it and make good burns. just need to make sure things are up to par, such as firmware, media ID, burn speeds etc. that is why it is important for you to post that nero log like chewy asked. try and find someone or somewhere you can test that disc out on another player. how old is this player? was it a cheapy? make?

i bought it last year at radioshack for like 50-60. its a goldstar. and up till now it has been the best player for dvds. it can't be that old but i haven't seen another one like anywhere.
