Editing a digital recording before burning...

Hello all. I've recently bought a freeview receiver for my computer and want to back up some of the recordings I have from the receiver onto dvd. Some of the films I've recorded have 5 mins or so of extra programs at the beginning. Is there a piece of software you could recommend that is simple to use and would allow me to chop this excess portion of the recording off before I burn the disc? Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Neil.

projectX and cuttermaran are freeware tools for splitting mpeg2, the former accepts .mpg and .ts and can demux/split streams, the latter requires the file to be demuxed first. the best and easiest to use IMHO is VideoRedo.
