PowerDVD skips to next chapter when I move my mouse

Hi! I have the strangest of problems. A long time ago, I tried PowerDVD instead of WinDVD just to see if it was any better. I quickly discovered that when I moved my MS bluetooth mouse around, it skipped chapters. Not always, just sometimes. I did a quick search on google and found nothing. If PowerDVD skipps chapters, I'll skipp PowerDVD.

A couple of versions of PowerDVD later and a complete reinstallation of the OS I'm thinking I should try again since I like the interface and WinDVD crashes on me everytime I exit the program. Guess what, same problem.

At first it worked pretty good, but after installing remote capablilites from my X-fi Elite pro the problem started. I didnt play with it long enough to actually say that it has something to do with the x-fi but I'm suspecting it anyway. Turning the remote thing off in the creative settings, doesnt help. Is there something supporting a remote in PowerDVD? Maybe it reads my mouse by mistake somehow?

Any ideas?

i don't user powerdvd but the last time i did i do remember it adding a process for remote devices to the startup list. disable it in start-->run-->msconfig-->startup, IIRC was something like "PDVD..."

though imo powerdvd is rather bloated since 5.0, i prefer media player classic and dscaler5/nvidia purevideo for mpeg2 decoding.

I can't see anything like PDVD or anything resembling that in the startup list. But I'm starting to suspect it has something to do with MS intellitype, I have that installed in order to get intelliremote to work. Ialso found that the scroll wheel was connected to "next chapter" in the powerdvd settings. I've changed it to volume since "Disabled" wasn't an option!???

I have tried mpc and dscaler (I have an ATI card) and found there to be too much settings. I keep fiddeling and tweeking to the extent that I don't have time to watch the movies I found a couple of guides helping me setting ffdshow and everything with disastrous results. The picture sucked, looking nothing like screens that the guide had

How do you mean bloated? I cant find anything that's bloated about it? Even Windows Media player seems more bloated to me? There are very few settings, no extra tools (have you installed the latest nero?).

the defaults work well in most cases. why involve ffdshow? mpc even has it's own internal mpeg1/2 decoder, i only suggested dscaler for it's speed.

maybe bloated wasn't the best term, however... the interface is terrible (ofcourse just an opinion), hijacks file associations on install, adds (IIRC) at least 2 uneeded processes at startup, has that CLEV crap that messes with levels and a few other things that don't make it 'bloated' but imo an overrated and overpriced product
