    hardware for blue-ray/hd dvd?

    hi all, any news on the latest br/hd dvd rewriters yet?
    i see blank br/hd dvd discs are already for sale!
    also anything in pipeline for br/hd equivalent of dvd shrink/decrypter etc...?

    Howdy!

    The current DVD Blu-Ray recorders use the mpeg2 codec, not the mpeg4 codec which is what is used for the stamped HD DVD's.

    Recording HD is still in its infancy. DVR units with on board hard drives are the best for recording true HD signals at the present time. Give it about a year or so and we should see the Blu-Ray recorders utilize the mpeg4 codec.
