Best vidcard for 2D, PQ, video/photo editing, etc?

I'm looking for a PCIe passive vid card with best 2D quality suitable for video / photo editing (color accuracy and rendering), high quality DVD playback and sharp text. I'm not into gaming. Is nVidia Quadro line the best out there for this sort of application? Do I really 256Mb on-board video ram if I'm going to use Vista down the road? Thanks!

Don't bother with Vista, it down grades the video.

yes quadro line is best for such work, but cheaper models say 7xxx series will do almost all stuff decent enough in way less.

vista requires a good 3d card and usually they r coming in 256 mb and up only.
nvidia is now slowly but surly making better vista drivers, new beta now supports opengl also.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!
