    Can't Make Backup with Shrink

    Hello all,
Here is my delima.....Whenever using DvdShrink to make my backups, it works fine until it is time to insert a blank disc. It never recognizes that the disc is in there.
As an added note, I am running Windows Vista(Vistaectomy hehe)

When I have had luck with the drive recognizing the disc I usually end up with a burn failure. Below is the log. (I am using Sony discs)

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded/used DvdShrink with Imgburn and had success.
I'm finding that a lot of programs will not work with Vista.
I have a photo scanner less than 6 months old that will not work either.
      Oh well...

A common problem...before long we will just be smiling and handing over our money to Mr. Gates.

Not familiar at all with Vista or the codecs and drivers that are necessary to operate it and make it functional, but the above codec pack may make some headaches go away.

I even wondered how you managed to instal Nero 6 on Vista anyway as the incompatibility warning will flash across the screen as soon as you inserted the disc.

well, time to spend on Nero 7 or Roxio EMC9 I guess...the Vista future is bleak!

I actually got a parallel port scanner to work with windows xp for a few days before I had to reinstall xp, when vista was in beta and rc1, several people got a few versions of nero 6.xx to work(sort of)

I've heard and read so much bad news about Windows Vista. I'm planning on buying Windows XP so that if I need to buy a new PC, I can downgrade to a better Windows. Windows Vista seems to have more problems than a broken engine in my opinion. I have Windows XP pre-installed in my PC and I prefer that version.

Remember, when Windows XP came out, a lot of software for the previous Windows' either wouldn't work or they made Windows XP unstable. You have to be careful any software that you're using isn't making your Windows Vista unstable. Most of the time you'll get a warning if it would.

              Darren.

I have only had this computer for about two weeks.
My latest adventure is getting my Linksys wireless adapter to work again.
Everything was fine until I installed Windows updates then everything was a no go. Couldnt get computer to even recognize that the adapter was even plugged in.

Sounds like a driver issue, go to Linksys and see if there is a updated driver for your OS.

Your right on it being a driver issue. I couldnt use the disc that came with the product because it was designed for XP so I had to download the Vista drivers from Linksys site. Getting Vista to accept the new drivers was a whole new can of worms but finally I got it working.

I kinda figured that it was Vista. Becareful some old drivers will cause Vista to crash.
