    Live and learn

    An observation from a first time user.

    I just wasted about 18 hours of processing time batch encoding an episodic disc because I didn't read the guides close enough...basically I chose the target output folder but didn't specify or create individual folders for each disc. Can you guess what I found when I opened the final work output folder? One VIDEO_TS folder and one AUDIO_TS folder...it seems that each subsiquent backup overwrote the preceeding one. D'oh on me.

    I am making this post so that others can learn by my mistake. But I guess this is why I was testing this product...now I know. As it is the one backup that I managed to make looks excellent and I am pleased.

    Now for a few questions...

    ISO mode isn't available in the free version?

    I selected the encoding mode as CCE and set up everything accordingly, but I noticed during the encoding that HC encoder seemed to be doing the work. I'm sure this isn't the way it is supposed to work...have I overlooked an option somewhere? I double checked my paths in setup, mode and CCE options.

    Word from the wiser...read the guides thoroughly and make sure to create separate folders when batch encoding (I'm sure this wouldn't apply if making ISO images).

    Stupid question - CCE is installed and you have selected the correct version in Settings → CCE Settings?

        and you are sure HC did the job instead of cce?

        if in doubt, take a look at the log file!

          I didn't select to hide encoder while encoding during the setup so that could see what was going on...when maximized the encoder window was from HC encoder.

            Upon further review I may have had the path to CCE incorrectly entered. When I do another one I'll let everyone know.

            Another observation...when scanning the disc with CD Speed the MID seems to be missing. I know what the discs are and Imgburn still ID's them properly, just wondering why Nero isn't seeing the discs and if they are being seen properly.

              Program to use with DVD-RB/HCenc

              @locoeng

              a little off topic but if you are using the free DVD-RB 98.2 version and you have a duel processor in your PC try out the Duel DVD-RB program that will run the HCenc_20 encoder twice to utilize the duel core CPU. My DVD-RB time was cut in half. Works nice with HCenc_20 you need to go into the HCencGUI to edit it if you want the quality to be best as the default is the standard quality, I also set the processor to SSE3. I don't think it will work with CCE. Check it out here:
