    PS2 Backups?

Understand this was PS3 area, but did not see anything for PS2 nor did I know how to create one. My 8yo daughter is destroying my PS2 games, any way I can make back-up copies via software?

    Thanks,

    Dave

As katz posted with that link you need either to put mod chip inside of the unit or use swap magic disc...I recommond the swap magic myself...

I just wish I could back up the swap magic/coder discs, so they don't run the risk of getting scratched!

You can actually..you just need a mod chip for the backup copy to work...

I'm a long time modder.. I install mod chips and let me tell ya..professionally installed modchips are the best bet... there is no need for any special tool or anything..just b/u your game with DVDD and you;re good to go.

These are pressed discs - no program I have has been able to back them up. Lengthly discussion on cdfreaks about guys who have tried & failed.

Yes, I understand that, but I have succeeded.
PS2 modding is my side business.. I wouldn;t give you false information intentionally.
I understand that Swap Magic is using a pressed disk, what I said was you can back up the Swap magic disk and use it, you just have to have a mod chip installed to use it..which totally defeats the purpose of using swap magic in the first place..
I was just giving ya a hard time about it is all, but making a copy of swap magic and using the copy is possible with a mod chip installed, just no point in using swap magic is you ahve a mod chip.

                Okay, I understand the joke

But how are you backing up the pressed disc? It has been awhile since I tried it, but from memory, there is a bin file that cannot be copied...

You do realize that all PS2 games you buy are pressed disks?

Also, I don;t want to get into this topic to deep.. I respect these forums and don;t really want to tipetoe around the rules.

No problem, we don't want to break any rules. Yeah, I know all games, etc. are pressed/factory disc, but the swap & coder discs are completely different, as you probably know.

They have circular "grooves" (rings) on them, giving the appearance of a record. It is these that the bin file cannot be copied from.

But, no worry, I just tell the kids to make sure they are extra careful with those
