    Tmpgenc: timing/ output size

I just reformated my hard drive...and before i was using TMPGE just fine..now after reformating my computer..i am having some problems with TMPGE...i have instaled fddshow and divx 5...my problem is that the output file is coming out like 3 times as big as the origanl fle..before they would just be slightly larger..and another problem is that its taking twice as long as it use to before....like 5 hours when it took like 45 mins for a 700mb file...here is what im converitng it to

    MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 128kbps

make sure directshow is set as per my guide in the faq. i just tried it with it at default and instead of making a 200mb file like it should, it's calling for 700, naturally this will take longer too as you describe. maybe it's not set since the reformat?

Talk about the TMPGEnc line of software, including TMPGEnc Express, MPEG Editor and TMPGEnc DVD Author

Open TMPgenc Plus, the wizard will open. Close it. The first thing you need to do:

Go to the TMPGEnc's Option menu and select Environmental settings. From there, select the
          VFAPI Plug-in tab.

There you see a list of various reader plugins installed for TMPGEnc. The one that's called DirectShow Multimedia File Reader is the one that we're looking at. As a default, its priority is -1. Select the item and right click on it. Choose Higher priority and repeat this until the "Priority" for this item is higher than any other plugin's priority in the list (usually 2). LEAVE this set always. I have found 50% of files won’t even open or produce write stream errros unless this is set.
