How do i disable Smart tags in IE?

    Hi,

I was just reading an article on IE that is causing me problems. Yes i do use Mozilla but IE is still taking over my drives. There are 2 suggestions. 1.) Remove smart tags from IE which was on the article in Add/Remove programs but didn't see smart smart tags or 2.) Disable smart tags from tools Internet Options there was no at all smart tags box to uncheck. I did have IE 6 on my PC but i upgraded to IE 7. I had too try to fix the problem. If it wasn't so difficult to remove IE from Windows it would of been bye bye now. But it is still in my PC. Yes i did uncheck IE from Control Panel then Components. Guess what? It is still in my system. How do i remove it from the registry and the brain of the PC? We must fix the error that is "IE encoutered a problem and must close". I have to fix it. I can not access my drives to watch or play the movies i encoded. I hope someone replies back to this ASAP. Thank you.

I just realized it is not an IE error. The article is on IE. I miss read my error message but the error is due to Windows Explorer and the same message i get. Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close.

Check out the Microsoft knowledge base; This is a common windows error, & could be related to several different things.

let's start over from scratch, elaborate a little on what's actually happening, try to be accurate

            smart tags?

            or part of ms office?

The reason why i said smart tags is because that was a solution to try to fix it IE but i miss read my error and it's not IE. It is Windows Explorer.

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close. Sorry for the inconvience. That is the main error i am getting.

It is in My Computer when i open up the drives. Too be honest i don't know what is causing the problem. For me to work with my movies, I deleted my drives and resized the XP drive and saving everything on my Desktop. I shouldn't have to do that. I should be able to use a drive/partition under My Computer with no crashing at all.

If my route didn't work repair won't work. Today, actually earlier. I used Kill Disk to erase by writing zeros and start from scratch. Guess what just happened right now? I wrote zeros so i won't have a problem. What happened is Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close.

                              ground zero:

                              make and model of computer?

                              motherboard etc, details?

you getting way ahead of yourself?
