Hey,

Does this forum have a tutorial for ImgBurn to burn AVI files? Also, if I did use that tool to burn, how do I know if I am about to go over the 4.7 gig mark? It would be a bunch of movies on 1 DVD. No I don't have a bunch yet but I am working on them. I have to convert. I might just go with DivX. I was speaking to Al from the main DivX forums on AIM.

Thank you for the remove. As I was reading the guide. I have to have my files DVD standard? I can't just burn an AVI movie? As an ISO like it would be done in Nero.

I know that. I was looking at your tutorials and they was mostly for DVD burning. My question is why can't I use ImgBurn to burn divx/xvid?

ImgBurn can burn AVIs. Just use build mode. Whethere they play on your player is another thing - most do not. Which is where conversion comes in handy. Try SUPER or DVD Flick for converting AVI to DVD.

OK, I've been searching the forums for hours now and have not managed to find a straight answer yet. It's like everyone is posting with one arm tied behind their backs.

Here's my situation: I've collected/created a ton of video files and converted them all to .avi format using AVS Video Converter 6.2.5.333. They play just fine on my computer whether I use Windows Media Player, VLC Player, Real Player SP, or CyberLink PowerDVD. I burned them to DVD-R using ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 in "build" mode, selecting each individual file and using ISO9660 + Joliet. These discs also play just fine in my computer using any of my above-mentioned media players. I found a DVD player (TOSHIBA D-R410 DVD RECORDER/PLAYER 1080P HDMI/DivX) and purchased it. According to its specifications, it will play DivX/XviD CDs and DVDs.

My question is this: Will it play the discs I've burned? Are they DivX DVDs at this point or do I need to change a setting before I perform a burn?

I am trying to answer you with both my hands in front of me..
What did you CONVERT your videos to, using AVS ? I mean, what is the exact format of the converted file?(Use Mediainfo to provide info). You will need to convert the files to Xvid/DivX encoded avi files. Even then the standalone player may not be able to play them.There are certain other parameters,like QPEL,GMC etc., which must be correctly configured during encoding. AVI Recomp is a nice program to remove GMC and QPEL from avi files to make them standalone compatible.

After you have a correctly encoded avi file,burn it on a CD or DVD as Data-CD or Data-DVD and it should play in the hardware player.

This was downloaded from a the web and converted from .flv to .avi using AVS Video Converter with DivX type 1, then burned to a Verbatim 16x DVD-R (MCC 03RG20) using ImgBurn in build mode with ISO9660 + Joliet at 8x. As you can see, there's no QPel or GMC coding, so this should play in most stand-alone DivX certified players, right?
