IMGBurn Error

try lowering the burn speed to 4X, and expect a lot of failures with such bad media/blanks

verbatim or taiyo yuden are the best, even sony is better than ritekf1's

did you pull the disk out before imgburn could verify the burn?

I'll try changing the speed, thanks. The tray automatically opens before it verifies the DVD, is there a way to change that? Sorry I'm so dense about this.

the tray opens after the burn so the drive can be unlocked, it automatically closes and if you leave the disk in imgburn then relocks the drive and does the verify

or at least that's what I have figured out

so only remove the disk after the burn if you have verify turned off

Being a laptop you'll need to push the tray back in manually of course!

Same issue, different timeline...

I get the same problem, almost the same error except that the error happens at about 90% or 80% of the verify. Its on the same version of ImgBurn. i tried independently doing the burn, then restarting and doing the verify afterwards but still same error - a i/o scis device access error which halts the read.

Im on a NEC 3500A drive, using VERBATIM DVD-R's and +R's only and this has happened on 3 different disk verifies. Oddly tho - the disks themselves seem to work fine, but since they are backup images from disk i need to make sure they are 110%.

Is this a new error with this version? Is it something i need to ignore ?? (i.e. some disks verify fine, others hit this error). Ive used Nero6 verifies on other disks and never hit this issue. I may experimentally try another verify tool if i can find one - any ideas? would need to verify against a "on hard drive" image.

Sorry - havent got it handy from where im logging in but will get one generated.

The latest i have found is that the verify does not work on my NEC3500A, but does work when i ran the same disk on a verify against the iso image on an external USB2 DVDwriter (an old MSI 8x writer).

I tested on a few disks to see if it was media - of 7, 1 had a media failure and the rest would only verify on the external drive.

I also tried a verify without being against the iso image (just a straight verify) and that did not work on the NEC (always stops around 90%), while on the MSI drive it worked. As another test, i also verified on a laptop with a TEAC drive and on a pure ImgBurn write+verifytoimage it ran fine every time on the Verbatim disks. I need to eliminate media as a result.

So this looks like an issue with the NEC3500A and using it with ImgBurn. the Writes themselves appear fine, but the later verify barfs. This happens even when i stop , restart, and then try a verify seperately from the write+verify in one session option.

Any ideas?

imgburn saves the logs, look under help in the program

seeing the exact log with verify that failed would most helpful

some programs and hardware problems can cause verify errors

might still have a good burn

You might be verifying too quickly. Slow it down a bit. I removed the speedlock on my LG the other day, only to see it choke on verify as the speed got too high. The disks verified on everything else and when the speed was limited, on the LG, too.

Thanks for the help folks. Here is an example log from a burn to NEC which failed to verify at the 905 mark, and then immediately after reverified fine on the external USB drive (ATAPI no name MSI).

Help me obiwan.......

Is my NEC drive on the way out? If so - whats a good replacement option. That NEC was solid machinery and never seemed to show verify errors under Nero6.

way too fast for that old a drive

set for 8X max

I am not so sure about the drive's firmware?

Have you tried burning at anything other than 4x?
