Help! How do I open avi/Xvid with codecs installed?

Hi, this is my first post here.

I have an Xvid file on my computer, but it won't open properly - it shows a bluriness and, as a scene changes, it takes a while for colors and shapes to change! Like all the colors are running into one! There is no audio problems, though.

Playing the file outwith my computer - i.e. playing it on my Creative Zen Vision:M MP3 player and burning it onto a blank DVD with the trial version of ConvertXtoDVD - works without this blurry problem!

I've downloaded GSpot, but it seems overly-complicated, and tells me that all the codecs I need are already installed!

Please help - I don't know what else to do!

That sounds like more of a video problem with your computer, possibly driver related

Other video files that are not Xvids play fine! Is it still possible that this is a driver problem? It occurs when I try to play the file in both WMP (even though no error messages appear) and PowerDVD 5.

Also, I don't know if it helps to know, but I also have fraps installed on my computer (running Vista), but images taken from the video file also show the blurriness - if it was a video driver, would this still appear, does any1 know?
