    720P Plasma & Bluray question

Since the Blu Forum looks empty I'd like to ask this here.

I know blu-ray is 1080P so the question is what kind of picture could I exspect playing back on a 50" Panasonic Plasma which is 720P output..
I think it upscales to 1080i but either way..
Anyone using blu-ray on this type resolution tv?

Yes, I'm using it on such a TV and it's brilliant. Obviously a 1080p screen would look better, but you'll need the screen size to be above 55" (preferably above 60") and great eyesight to be able to see a huge difference. At 50", from say 3 meters/10 feet out, the perceived resolution by your eyes is limited to much less than 1080p, or something like that.

You panel would just downscale everything to 720p (even if it accepts 1080i), but because the source is better, the picture is better too. That's why some people say that even watching Blu-ray on a SDTV, the picture is better than watching a DVD, for example.

I would even go as far as to say that watching Blu-ray on a 720p screen will be the first time you can fully appreciate your 720p screen (unless you've been watching 1080i/p HDTV, and even then, the bitrate won't compare to Blu-ray's).
