    "cheating" on battery backup?

Hmmmm, seems the prices of UPS go way up when you go to 4 battery backed outlets. Anyone "cheat" by plugging in 2 low power devices into one battery backed outlet? Like maybe a modem and a router on one thingy?

That is how I have my modem and router/wireless access point connected.

Cool. On that UPS all I have is modem, switch and one external USB drive so it's not like I'm overloading it. It's just convenient to have an open plug with battery backing for quick tasks.

I hooked up just now and all seems normal. I sent for some gigabit rated cables and I ordered the PCI gigabit card. Hopefully copying across the network will be just like copying to another drive in a few days. $26 or so shipping included for a gigabit card! Sheesh!! I remember getting a 3Com ISA 10 Mb card for $75!! Glad some things get cheaper.
