Sound Edit

I have an .avi file whose sound quality I want to edit (reduce bass & increase volume) before converting to a DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author 3. What software do I need to achieve this?

Load the avi in Virtualdub.
Save the audio as wav.
Edit the wav in Audacity and save the new wav.
Remux the new wav with the original video in Virtualdub.
Convert the avi and author to DVD.

I've managed to edit the WAV file in Audacity, but have no idea how to 'Remux the new WAV with the original video in Virtualdub' (the latter's help file does not even recognise the word 'remux'). Any chance of a set of click by click instructions, please?

Open AviDemux. Open your .avi file. In Audio Menu select Main Track select External WAV then hit the Browse button below to browse to the .wav file. Hit Save on the toolbar and save it to an .avi.

edit: I haven't used VirtualDub in awhile so I don't remember how to do it there but AviDemux is simple for some things.

Any chance of a set of click by click instructions, please?

Open the Video file in Virtualdub.
Click on "VIDEO". Select "Direct Stream Copy".
Click on "AUDIO". Select "Audio from other file...". Now choose the newly edited audio file.
Lastly, "FILE"/Save as avi.
